Surface preparation

Ensure substrate is clean and free of any resin contamination. Sand the surface using 320–400 grit abrasive prior to coating. This topcoat can be applied over water-based, polyester, or UV basecoats. Applying over nitrocellulose or polyurethane basecoats is not advised.

Application

Suitable for soft bristle brush, short pile roller, or spray application. For best performance, apply by spray. Wherever possible, prioritise optimising spray settings and working conditions to achieve the finest atomisation rather than diluting with water.

For conventional spray, use a 2–2.5mm nozzle at 3–4 bar pressure. For Air Mix, use a Nozzle 11 at 80–110 bar coating pressure. For airless spray, use a Nozzle 11 at 120–150 bar.

Curing and aftercare

At 20°C, dust-free in 45 minutes, handling in 1.5 hours, and stackable after 12 hours. If using a forced drying system, allow 2 minutes flash-off (30°C) followed by 10 minutes laminar air (45°C); stackable after cooling and 1 hour total. Achieves full durable hardness over a period of a few weeks. For cleaning the surface during this period, use a damp soft cloth.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area between 5°C and 35°C in correctly labelled, tightly closed containers.

Shelf life is 12 months under these conditions.

Safety

This product is water-based and non-flammable, making it a safer alternative to traditional solvent systems. However, appropriate care must still be taken during handling.

Water-based coatings can act as skin and eye irritants; it is important to wear protective gloves and eye protection when handling. Spills or splashes must be removed immediately while wet - if allowed to dry, the material becomes highly durable and can only be removed mechanically or with harsh chemicals.

Environmentally hazardous - do not allow wet product to enter water courses, drains, sewers, or the general environment.
